INTERVIEW: Moskvich raises 2024 plan by 13.6% to 50,000 cars
MOSCOW, Nov 23 (PRIME) -- Russian carmaker Moskvich has raised its 2024 plan by 13.6% to 50,000 cars under the brand in 2024, Chief Operating Officer Oleg Maslyakov told PRIME on Thursday.
"Moskvich car plant’s 2024 production plan amounts to about 50,000 cars," Maslyakov said.
The company said in August it plans to produce 44,000 cars.
Moskvich is located on the premises of the former Renault Russia plant, which Renault, that quit Russia, passed to the Moscow government in May 2022. Kamaz truck maker now also owns 50% of the company.
It produces three models – city crossover Moskvich 3, electric car Moskvich 3e and sedan Moskvich 6.
The executive estimated sales since their launch in Moscow last December and in the provinces since this March at about 12,000 cars, while deliveries to the dealerships stood at more than 15,000 units.
An electric car developed by Moskvich was to be presented in 2025, he said.
"In 2025, we plan to present an electric car where the key components, the electric engine, the traction battery and other elements will be Russia-made," the executive said.
Maslyakov said that Moskvich planned to start exports in a foreseeable future but was focused on the local market.
Maslyakov added that Moskvich also planned to expand the dealer network from the current 82 centers in 51 cities.
